CASTING PRODUCTION PROCESS CONTROL
1. SAND ANALYSIS
The laboratory features a line dedicated totesting the quality of moulding sand.
- Cohesion Meter – hardness stress test of the sand mixture exposed to pressure
- Electronic Permeameter – determining the sand mixture permeability
- Infrared Dryer – determining the moisture insamples of sand casting mixtures
- Maul – instrument used for the compression of sand mixture samples
- Device for determining the core hardness in the iron foundry.
2. CHEMICAL ANALYSIS
Analysis of the chemical content of materials is performed using a high quality spectroscope operating on the principle of optical emission spectrometry – LECO GDS 500AGlow Discharge Spectrometer.
The possible quantitative analysis of the following samples:
- low legated steel
- cast iron
- Al-alloys
- Cu-alloys
- bronze, etc.
3. THE VISUAL INSPECTION OF CASTINGS
After the castings are cleaned, a preliminary control inspection is conducted in order to prevent or reduce potential errors in production.
The moulds are then shotblasted, after which each piece is individually inspected visually. If the castings satisfy in the scope of their quality, they are packaged and stored.
If deficiencies in samples arise during such an inspection, thecastings are sent fo rfurther processing, after which they are submitted to another control.
4.CASTINGS DIMENSION CONTROL
Castings dimensions are measured using the FARO measurement arm. The measurements are executed in accordance with the blueprints and designs delivered and defined by the clients with a level of accuracy of ±0.005mm.
5. MICROSTRUCTURE CONTROL
Microstructure inspection, along with the preparation of samples using abrasion (from roughest to finest), using polishing or erosion and abrasion methods and techniques. Microscopic tests are conducted with the aim of determining the microstructures, shares of individual structures (microconstituents), grain sizes, grain orientation, size, division and the distribution of inclusions.
The microstructure is determined ineroded samples with the aid of optical microscopic enlargement of 50x, 100x, 150x and 200x.
6. CONTROL OF THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
Possible hardness tests using the hardness measurement method of indenting according to Brinell–the Brinell Hardness Test.
Indent measurement - HBVS 100 Brinell Video System
7. MATERIAL HARDNESS EVALUATION
Static pulling testing on the SHIMADZU AG-X Ultra-High-precision Universal Testing Machine where it is possible to determine the basic characteristics of the material, such as:
- Tensile strength - Rm
- limitations of material stretching -Rp02
- Stretching - A
- Contraction-Z
The computer-controlled analytical measuring instrument SHIMADZU Autograph AG-X enables the execution of tests and recording the results electronically as well as generating a Hook diagram on the basis of the attained material testing results. The machine is equipped with a Video Extension-Meter and complies with all the EN-ISO-6892 standards.
