RS METALI d.d. is an iron foundry active in the production and manufacture of grey, nodular and tamper cast iron and non-ferrous castings. Under our ownership, we run two production lines – SAMOBORMETAL based in Sveta Nedelja and RAPID2002 in Virovitica, both of which currently employ a workforce of 170 employees.
Nodular graphite cast iron
Chemical composition of nodular graphite cast iron is different from grey cast iron because it contains higher percentage of carbon, silicon and magnesium (or cerium) so graphite is extracted in a form of spheroids. Besides, it contains significantly less sulphur than grey cast iron.
Metal basis structure of nodular graphite cast iron can be pearlitic, pearlitic-ferritic or ferritic. By alloying or heat-treating also other structures can be achieved.
Whiteheart malleable cast iron
Malleable cast iron is alloy of iron and carbon and other elements and most of the carbon is extracted in the form of graphite flakes which are known as temper carbon. All carbon is in the form of compound Fe3C (cementite). This compound gives us hard casting which mills easiliy during the blow. Because of that, castings go through second phase of production: tempering.
